Forthcoming fieldwork

The 2011 excavation was completed at the end of August.
A programme of fieldwork in the  southern part of the New Forest is currently (winter 2011-12)  being undertaken.

The New Forest History and Archaeology Group was founded in 2008 to replace the New Forest Section of Hants Field Club .  The focus of the Group is on practical fieldwork and recording of the Forest's archaeology and local history. It undertakes a wide range of projects : (for details click on a link).

  1. An annual excavation.
  2. Continuing programme of fieldwork.
  3. Maintenance of the New Forest Archaeological Database.
  4. Special survey projects.
  5. Maintenance of the Forestry Commission's archaeological maps.
